This writeup is for both the intellects and the believers.
Let me start with a short story which I read a long ago, not sure where I read it but it has always lingered in my thought for many years.
“Once there lived a bogus spiritual leader who was managing an ashram near a beautiful village. A huge ferocious river was flowing through the village throughout all the seasons. The bogus spiritual master had many followers who blindly believed and followed him, among them was a disciple who meditated continuously thinking about the master and did whatever the master asked him to do, he was diligent of all the disciples, serving the master continuously.
One day when the disciple went to the village’s market to buy vegetables to cook for his master, on the way few intellectuals in the village got hold of him and started arguing with him about the master’s authenticity. Disciple argued back with the intellects and challenged the intellectuals that with his master’s grace he will cross the ferociously flowing river by walking on top of the water, intellects agreed that if he can do it they will also agree that the master is genuine.
The news of the disciple walking over the river spread across the village and everyone came to watch him cross the river by walk, hearing this the master was very upset as his credibility was at stake; he too came rushing. Disciple closed his eyes and prayed to his master, started walking across the river and to everyone’s surprise he was able to cross the river by walking across. People hailed the master. The master got confused, his ego overtook him and he decided if his disciple was able to do it, he too should also be able to cross the river. So, he tried to cross the river but he drowned in the flowing water and was lost in the river’s flow.
Moral of the story is, it’s the belief and of the student and the trust he had in his master enabled him to cross the river. Your belief enables miracles to happen.
Once one of the stylish Indian actor once said “My God is as powerful as the belief I bestow upon him”.
