Over last week social media was flooded with the speech by environmental activist Greta Thunberg in US National congress and USA 2019 Global Climate Strike. At the age of 16, if she could deliver a speech which could make the whole world listen, I couldn’t even imagine how audacious and conversant the 2K kids are.
I totally agree climate change is real and we are undergoing a change at a drastic pace. But I have got a couple of questions to the readers.
Lets coin a scenario, there is a parade of elephants destroying the plants and trees in the forest as they roam around. Do you think in the above scenario the elephants are destroyers of forest or do you think that it’s their nature and it is their natural behavior? Answer to yourself
Now there is a group of humans destroying the forest lands for their survival and for more habitual space. Do you think this is a natural phenomenon or its a destructive behavior? Answer to yourself.
I am pretty sure, the majority of us would have answered the first scenario is a natural behavior and the second one is not.
The problem with us humans is we fail to understand that we humans are part of nature and our actions are part of nature too. It’s not just we are part of nature, we are nature too. We think we are separate from nature and our actions and creations are artificial. If we are building a house, we take all the necessary materials from nature, remodel it in different proportions and make a house out of it. Same is the case with photosynthesis in plants. It takes sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide from nature and makes Oxygen out of it. Once we start to agree we are nature too, both of these are a natural phenomenon.
Somehow our minds feel so much superior to nature and distance ourself from it. Also, we have started to provide solutions to cure nature with out being part of it.
Don’t be judgemental that I am arguing against environmental activist but I wish every one realizes how much we are distancing ourself from nature. Also, I strongly believe that nature is so powerful than what we all could perceive and think about it. So the only solution to the existing problem is realizing we are are not just part of nature and we are nature too , be with nature more mindfully responsible. Everyone who does this is a so-called “environmental activist”
