Before I start, I would like to clarify, I am neither a movie buff nor an admirer of so called stars or star worship. But these are the happenings in my life, how I got impacted by a man whom I have seen only in big screens and heard him over his stage talks & the name of that man is Rajnikath.
Diwali release
Last movie which my parents watched before I was born was Manidhan, the center crux of the movie revolves around Rajnikanth being born on No moon day, coincidently I was born; the next No moon day yet another coincidence it was the day of Diwali. (Hello world with burst of crackers not a bad welcome at all).
Bed and Food time stories
It’s a customary for my Amma to tell me the story of “Annai oru Aalayam” every time I eat, trust me its every time – 3 times a day at least. I was somehow attracted to the movie not just because of Rajnikanth because of the wild animals shown in the movie which every kid is fond of. My Amma had an own version of telling me the story with a slight tweaks over the plot. It goes this way “Mom and kid elephant were living happily in a forest and one day the elephant kid disobeys its mother, ran around the forest and fell in to a ditch dug by hunters followed by how it was saved and brought back to its mother by one good hunter” ultimately the moral of the story was “Never disobey your mother or you will be lost”. Somehow subconsciously I had started liking the good hunter Rajnikanth.
Another movie which I was fond of as a kid was “Anbulla Rajnikanth” all I understood in that movie was one good uncle “Rajnikanth” and the phrase which struck my mind “Rajni uncle engae irrukinga”
Early school days and the prime time
My parents understood my hankering attitude towards this man that, they never ever stopped me from watching his movies. Even at very tender age, I was taken to all his movies and I was told that I used to enjoy a lot.
Citing on another incident was watching Pandiyan movie with daddy during my kinder garden days. On a fine Sunday evening, well it was not much fine enough though. On a showery evening, in Trichy, I was taken to that movie, it was a heavy down pour. It was just me and my father rolling over our TVS 50 in a sub way with water level drowning the wheels of the vehicles. Rajnikanth has really got some hypnotic powers in him, that lured everyone every time despite the situations or conditions around
Don’t ask me how I remember all the happenings I somehow do remember my childhood, it all runs like a photograph in my mind.
If you don’t believe I remember my childhood here are the evidences about some thoughts which I remember about my childhood.
Watching Annamalai in Doordarshan , watched Basha staying awake till mid night in a temple gathering with relatives, Veera in Madurai when we cousins came for a get together in grandparents’ home also I remember we travelling in bus to the movie. Me and my cousin repeat the dialog “I am bad man” during our childhood.
…. to be contd..
